Integrated analog CMOS circuits

Learn the fundamentals of microelectronics for analog circuits

This course begins with an overview of the CMOS process and the devices available. Then current sources, single-stage amplifiers and differential amplifiers in the time and frequency domain are discussed. The presentation of fundamental circuit concepts and their improvements is concluded with an introduction to analog layout techniques and a discussion of electronic noise in the circuits. Finally, applications of the circuit concepts presented are shown, with a focus on MEMS sensor readout electronics.

  • High efficiency and applicability through practical content
  • High learning success through the latest teaching and learning methods and innovative educational technologies such as e.g. B. virtual classrooms, learning forums, chats or mobile hardware internships

Next start date

Winter Term 2024/25
Starting on October 16th, 2024
Registration until October 1st, 2024

What can the content be used for?

Based on your in-depth understanding of analog CMOS circuit design, you can apply fundamental analog CMOS circuit design concepts and select a suitable concept for your application. You will be able to apply advanced circuit techniques and specify and design analog circuit components for embedded systems, as well as the interfaces between analog and digital circuits.
The contents of the course can be used, for example, in the following applications:

  •  Readout circuits for sensors
  • Measuring amplifier for ultra-low power
  •  Measuring amplifier for low noise and low voltage
  •  Audio Amplifier
  •  AC/DC and DC/DC controllers

What prior knowledge do I need?

Fundamentals of circuit technology are recommended for this course.
You can find more information about the required prior knowledge in the Continuing Education Courses section.

Costs

The costs including learning materials, tutoring by a research assistant and the exam amount to 2,300 euros.

How does the course work?

General introductory event in Freiburg

You will get to know the experts and get an overview of the content. The IEMS team will introduce you to the methods of online learning and answer your organizational questions.
